The “mains” referring to the world, I wrote this song out of frustration with being unable to escape the trappings of the world.
I pray that it’s a good reminder that we are set apart for the holiness of God, relying on His mercy and grace to make us new creations in Christ.
Lyrics:
I’ll choke the mains
Won’t fan the flames
Shots fired at the enemy
Can’t take the risk of idolatry
No patience for the wickedry
Be still and know your God
Set apart for the holiness
I won’t succumb to the strain of it
My Savior’s work already finished it
Be still and know your God
I’ll choke the mains
Won’t fan the flames
Fear dies at the sight of You
Wars are lost by the lack of You
Give me thirst for the follow-through
Be still and know your God
Suffer not cause you suffered first
Rescue me when I’m at my worst
Crack the mold of the hidden hearse
Be still and know your God
I’ll choke the mains
Won’t fan the flames
